Atty. Emigdio “Dino” Tanjuatco, III, Rizal Second District Representative, sponsored the HPV vaccination of 28 female employees of Tanay Water District. The vaccination drive was held on Feb. 13, 2024, at the TanWD Conference Room.
Tanay RHU personnel Midwife Jenny Ansay and Nurse JB Celles co-administered the first dose of the HPV vaccine on the beneficiaries. The activity is part of TanWD’s overall health and wellness program for its employees.
Administrative Services Division Manager Ms. Vickyflor Catapusan, who was among those inoculated, expressed her thanks to Cong. Tanjuatco. She explained that the HPV vaccine is composed of three doses to be considered fully effective.
An article at the Mayo Clinic website said that the human papillomavirus (HPV) is acquired through sexual activity. Some strains reportedly cause genital warts while others lead to certain cancers.
The same article added that three doses of the HPV vaccine given over six months are recommended for those aged 15 and older. However, the vaccine can be administered as early as 9 years old, and requires only two doses administered six to 12 months apart.
